Under close supervision, this position provides direct care for consumers of behavioral health treatment in an inpatient setting at the Oklahoma Forensic Center. This includes participation in de-escalation activities and assuring that consumers are kept safe. As a Mental Health Technician you will act as a role model for consumers, demonstrating effective problem solving and decision-making skills and will assist in providing therapeutic activities for the consumer, assuring scheduled programming is carried out and you may transport residents to and from medical appointments if needed.

Hourly payrate: $16.60
$1:00/hr direct care differential when working the unit; $0.50/hr shift differentials when working evening or nights and $0.75/hr for weekends and holidays; $2.00/hr CNA certification as a Long Term Care Aide, Residential Care Aide or Developmentally Disabled Direct Care.
Primary Working Hours are: 6:30am-3:00pm; 2:30pm-11:00pm; 10:45pm-6:45am

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
No experience or education is required.
Special Requirements:
Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check.
Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.

About us: The Oklahoma Forensic Center encompasses a secure inpatient forensic facility, forensic step-down unit Transitions Recovery Center (TRC) and jail competency services for the State of Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Forensic Center (OFC) located in Vinita employs around 260 individuals and has approximately 216 consumers whom have been found incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. The Oklahoma Forensic Center also houses the Transitions Recovery Center (TRC) which is a secure 52-bed forensic step-down unit. Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Pre-placement Testing: Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result. THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK.
