About the Team:
The Global Legal team provides legal advice and guidance to OKX and its affiliated entities across all legal practice areas and geographic locations, and supports business growth by working with all teams within the company to help them achieve their goals. Our team of 20 attorneys are located around the world, and handle legal matters in over 100 countries across the globe. OKX is based in San Jose, California, and has customers worldwide with offices in the United States (San Jose, San Francisco, New York City), Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia.
About the Opportunity:
As a Deputy General Counsel and Head of the Retail / Marketing & Advertising / Local Markets practice group, you will be leading a global team of 5 attorneys primary supporting OKX's centralized exchange platform and Web3 suite of products. This position reports directly to the General Counsel (based in San Francisco), and will work closely with all members of the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the company. You will be working from our San Jose or San Francisco office three days a week. You may work remotely two days a week.
The right candidate will have direct legal experience and an enthusiastic belief in the cryptocurrency/digital asset space, 14 years of experience working for a top-tier law firm or in-house at a prestigious financial services, technology or cryptocurrency company, and possess excellent writing and analytical skills. The ideal candidate possesses legal experience working in cryptocurrency/digital assets, global licensing, marketing and advertising, and the technology and/or financial services sector.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Supporting the business in a wide range of legal coverage areas, including but not limited to market and advertising, product promotion and development, global regulatory matters, corporate governance, global licensing efforts, token listings, contract negotiation, compliance legal support, and institutional sales and partnerships;

Leading a global team of attorneys supporting the Company's global growth, local markets and marketing and advertising departments;

Managing outside counsel and interpreting legal advice to comport with the firm's business development plans and risk appetite;

When necessary, assisting the team's litigation and regulatory practice group on global regulatory matters and inquiries;

Collaborating with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals; and

Managing legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advising on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders.
What We Look For In You:

Active membership with a state bar (CA preferred) or eligible to practice in California as a registered in-house counsel;

Resident of the San Francisco Bay Area;

14 years of legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in the cryptocurrency/digital assets industry;

Experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues and have a basic understanding of the relevant legal and regulatory landscape;

Experience supervising and managing a group of attorneys and/or legal professionals in either a law firm or in-house setting;

Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment;

Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams;

Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and feel comfortable in a collaborative working environment;

- The salary range for this position is $244,000 to $366,000.
- The salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
