Overview
We are seeking Youth Care Workers to supervise teenage girls in a residential program. This includes modeling healthy relationships, teaching the girls to set healthy boundaries, and teach independent living skills.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, protect and care for children individually and in groups at all times, according to standards set forth by Community Care Licensing.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment.
- Perform required quality assurance checks and document accurately and timely.
- Assist each youth in working with a group and in handling individual problems.
- Administer appropriate discipline and setting of limits for behavior.
- Teach youths independent living skills such as food preparation, house cleaning, laundering and yard work
- Assist residents with school and homework assignments.
- Ensure accurate and timely administration and documentation of medication.
- Ensure proper medical attention for clients.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on a daily basis, including but not limited to, intake information, personal logs, treatment notes, staff communication log, incident and runaway reports, etc.
- Under the direction of the Residential Clinician, provide guidance to assist clients’ in meeting their individual therapeutic goals.
- Transport youth and escort them to designated appointments and activities.
- May act as a liaison to residents authorized representatives, community representatives, school personnel, law enforcement personnel and others as needed.
- Responsible for safeguarding and maintaining accurate client and facility cash resources and receipts.
- Monitor maintenance needs of the residence and vehicles. Report any deficiencies to the Program Manager for correction.
- Ensure that all clients are appropriately groomed and dressed at all times.
- Provide clients with access and freedom of choice to attend religious services.
- Ensure that house and vehicle keys are kept out of the hands of clients at all times. Ensure that clients do not have access to locked areas of the facility and ensure items such as sharps, medications and hygiene products are secured.
- Must provide flexibility with the ability to work at any facility and on a flexible schedule as Agency needs dictate. Available to work holidays and on an emergency basis.
- Remain awake and alert at all times.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have a California Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Must have 3 years of history as a licensed driver.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must receive and maintain a criminal record clearance as determined by California’s Caregiver Background Check Bureau.
- Must have the ability to remain awake and alert for the duration of your shift.
