The OMD team provides innovative and collaborative full-service design, product, automation, and installation services to manufacturing customers in the sanitary / hygienic processing industries throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions with its corporate office and warehouse headquartered in Massachusetts.

Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for working closely with the General Manager, financial accounting staff and project managers in overseeing the day-to-day accounting and financial functions with a focus on job costing and work-in-process analysis and reporting. This person must manage timely accurate monthly closing procedures, produce consistent financial reporting, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Essential Functions

· Maintain and continue to ensure the efficiency/effectiveness of all financial systems and internal controls.

· Oversee, manage, and enhance the OMD established general ledger and financial reporting process.

· Engage and inspire a finance team of five to perform their best.

· Responsible for proactive day-to-day management of all general ledger activity, cash & net working capital management and job work-in-process financial activities.

· Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all required monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, as well as state sales & use tax, payroll, payroll tax, income tax administration and filings.

· Proactively manage all aspects of OMD retirement plan planning and compliance with support of OMD’s third party administrator, investment advisor and CPA firms.

· Proactively manage all aspects of OMD insurance and risk management planning, compliance and audits with support of OMD’s external benefits consultant and insurance resources.

· Preparation of monthly financial statements including variance analysis of actual operating results and related review with General Manager and President.

· Facilitate all aspects of year-end financial accounting and tax compliance reporting and filings with OMD’s external CPA firm.

· Participate in targeted and strategic forecasting activities as identified in collaboration with the General Manager and President on an on-going basis.

· Work collaboratively with the General Manager and President to identify and improve business performance through effective cost control, monitoring, and reporting systems with particular emphasis on profitability and cash flows.

· Pro-actively contribute to the continuous improvement of all financial systems and procedures and implement changes and improvements to increase accuracy, control, and timely reporting utilizing the recently implemented ERP system (MS Business Central)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of finance experience (construction/job costing industry a plus)
  • CPA designation is desirable
  • Prior staff management experience
  • Expertise in computer skills including custom report writing using MS suite (Jet reporting experience a plus)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on multi-tasking in a fast-paced company environment
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Ability to collaborate well with General Manager, finance staff and project managers to forge strong cross-disciplinary working relationships

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
