What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Landscape Staff position at Oliver Winery?
The Seasonal Landscape Staff works under the direction of the Landscape Manager to maintain Oliver Winery's high standards with regard to the customer experience, specifically in appearance, safety, comfort, beauty, and functionality of the landscape on whole. The ideal candidate brings high stamina, great attention to detail, and appreciation for working outdoors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs daily and seasonal garden/landscape maintenance tasks including: plantings, bed cultivation and weeding, mulching/edging, irrigation, pruning and trimming, fertilization, hardscape repair/install, mowing and trimming, and exterior buildings/landscape cleanup as directed by Landscape Supervisor.
- Assists the landscape team with monitoring and identifying safety hazards and needed repairs in the landscape.
- Assists with shop projects related to the upkeep of landscape equipment and landscape features such as planting containers, picnic benches, signage, etc.
- Assists with the installation and maintenance of seasonal display elements including specialized landscape or container plantings, arrangements, and interior decor.
- Maintains the landscape and property free of trash and debris.
- Interacts with customers and staff in a friendly and considerate way in an effort to enhance customer experience and promote the landscape and gardens at Oliver Winery.
- Assists in other areas of winery/vineyard operation when needed or directed.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to routinely perform physical labor in a variety of outdoor environments.
- High School Diploma.
- Previous work experience in horticulture or related field preferred.
- Interest in working for a premier winery in the Midwest with a desire and ability to assist in the seasonal maintenance and upkeep of exceptional gardens which are an indispensable component of our guest experience.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to be insured on company vehicles.
- Must be reliable and punctual with attendance.
- Must be able to wear appropriate work attire including close-toed shoes and an Oliver Winery logo shirt.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor power equipment, chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions. The position is outdoor work which requires attention to detail, lifting a minimum of 50 lbs., standing for long periods and repetitive bending/kneeling.
Typical Schedule: Typical work week is Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm, approximately 30-40 hours depending on weather and department needs. This position is seasonal and is expected to last no longer than six months.
