What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Clinical Terminologist position at OM1?

As a Senior Clinical Terminologist, you will be essential in developing the data handling and processing that will be the foundation for the entire OM1 data pipeline. This position will be responsible for leading Terminology projects independently, and provide additional guidance and direction to Clinical Terminologists. This position will provide a deep understanding and expertise of the intent and structure of the data in each clinical domain as well as the OM1 business and application development requirements that use the normalized source data.
\n- Provide in-house expertise on knowledge representation and the role of terminologies
- Define OM1 terminology standards as a combination of industry standard terminology systems and OM1 proprietary terminology, in order to appropriately represent the clinical information important to OM1 processes and products
- Document source vocabulary characteristics, including structure, use of standards, and data quality
- Provide independent ownership of Terminology projects including analyses, clinical overview, and communication with OM1 business owners and/or clinical research groups
- Define normalization specifications for the transformation of idiosyncratic native-format source data feeds into a well-documented, consistent OM1 information asset
- Define element and value level maps for standardization of local vocabularies
- Become the expert operator of terminology development and management tools used by OM1
- Work with the Engineering Group to implement, test and apply ongoing quality assurance to data normalization operations
- Perform additional analyses, as needed, to evaluate extension of scope on any given project, or for improvement of existing OM1 Terminology libraries
- Expertise in the use of standard clinical terminologies such as ICD-9, ICD-10 CM, ICD-10 PCS, CPT, HCPCS, SNOMED, NDC, RxNorm and GPI
- Ability to create and explain data processing models and flow diagrams
- Familiarity with healthcare culture and practice
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Ability to work well in cross functional teams, including engineering, product management and research
