Omaha Conservatory of Music is seeking a passionate and creative individual to join our team as the Coffee Shop Manager. This position will lead, develop and train all coffee shop staff members in preparing and serving high-quality foods and beverages, while providing excellent customer service to patrons. The Coffee Shop Manager will ensure that the coffee shop is open and staffed during every hour the Conservatory is open, including special events.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates degree in general studies, business or culinary arts.

• Create and maintain recipes for a full menu of both food and beverages, and ensure that all team members are trained on all menu items.

• Hire, train and lead all team members, including employee development and if necessary disciplinary actions.

• Schedule staff to ensure full coverage of all hours.

• Contribute to the profitability of the department by seeking opportunities with Conservatory managers and programs as well as cost saving measures.

• Oversee all cash handling procedures.

• Maintain store cleanliness, appearance, marketing standards and equipment.

• Adheer to all food safety regulations.

• The position and department is new to the Conservatory and this position will need to take a role in the start up of the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Create and maintain recipes for a full menu of both food and beverages

• Ensure consistent and quality customer experience through proper staffing, execution of brand beverage recipes and techniques, and fostering the highest customer service experience

• Interview, hire, train, and develop staff to demonstrate all Conservatory standards in customer experience and operations

• Provide ongoing performance feedback and development for staff members, identifying individual motivation factors and providing clear, constructive feedback to reinforce/improve performance

• Work with all employees to develop within their career and professional development.

• Maintain accountability in employees using progressive discipline process; partner with Director of Administration and Finance to develop team member and make termination decisions

• Determine daily and weekly staffing requirements based on Conservatory and Coffee Shop need and create work schedules accordingly

• Implement a varied schedule to develop employees, meet business needs, and maximize potential across all hours of operation

• Contribute to store profitability by seeking opportunities to increase sales through partnerships with Conservatory Managers and by managing expenses

• Encourage and ensure full team participation in both setting store goals and developing action plans to accomplish goals

• Ensure all cash handling, point of sale system, safety, and operational procedures are performed in an accurate, consistent manner by all employees

• Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, visual merchandising standards, food safety standards, and equipment

• Work with the Conservatory’s marketing team to promote food and drink specials and maintain updates to the shop’s social media channels and online presence as needed.

• Maintain final accountability for store operations

• Regular and predictable attendance

• Any other duties as assigned by the Administration and Finance Director

Education and Experience

• High School diploma required, Associates Degree preferred in general studies, business or culinary arts

• 1-2 years experience in coffee shops or other restaurant management is preferred

• Ability to teach and lead others

• Excellent communication skills

• Strong problem solving skills

• Strong computer skill, PC and Mac

• This position will need to be able to stand for long periods of time, and stay in an upright position without taking more than three steps. Must be able to work with one or two hands. Will need to be able to raise, lower, and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally throughout the day.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can trend to loud at times
