Position Title: Adoption Coordinator I

The Adoption Coordinator position is critical to achieving this focus by providing licensing, certification, and support to foster and adoptive families who wish to provide care to children who have special needs and/or developmental disabilities. Summary: The Adoption Coordinator provides licensing, certification, and support to foster and adoptive families who wish to provide care to children who have special needs and/or developmental disabilities.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, social services, child development, psychology, or related field. Two years’ experience working with special needs children in foster care, adoption, or related field preferred. Master’s degree in Social Work preferred. Must be able to work independently and maintain a full caseload. Key Success Indicators (KSIs) include:
- Thorough knowledge of state regulations regarding adoptions of children where parental rights have been terminated and therapeutic foster care programs including documentation, frequency of contacts, etc.
- State licensure and training requirements for foster and adoptive parents.
- Thorough knowledge of child development, developmental disabilities, and family dynamics.
- Diversity and sensitivity
- Behavior management techniques
- Networking with others in areas of specialty to secure needed resources in developing life plans and developmental objectives
- Legal proceedings regarding placement and custody of foster children
- Working knowledge of psychotropic medications to treat behavioral disorders
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and reliable transportation. Verified state license in Clinical Social Work if required by state regulations.
