Founded nearly 50 years ago, the facility in Vancouver, WA has a growing product portfolio including mechanical cargo hooks and suspension systems, to proprietary weighing systems and a Human External Cargo (HEC) line of equipment. In addition to serving every major OEM, the company heavily targets helicopter owners like municipal, fire, search and rescue operators and utility companies. In total, we serve over 1,000 customers around the world.

Onboard is seeking an Engineering Program Manager to support the growing business and growing portfolio of new products being introduced. This role primarily works onsite at our Vancouver, WA location, with flexibility to occasionally work remotely.


Overview

The Program Manager will report to the VP of Engineering with a dotted line to the VP of Sales & Marketing, and serve on a team of 9 total Engineering resources with daily interactions spanning all functions of the business.


The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the execution of assigned product development and strategic company projects. These projects include new product introduction involving the design, testing, certification, and ongoing manufacturing of electromechanical systems within the commercial aviation space, such as cargo hook and load weigh systems. Projects may also be strategic initiatives which support key performance indicators critical to the growth and success of the company. 


This position will be responsible for organizing the conceptual outline of the project, capturing the scope and charter, then coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the project moves forward to completion according to agreed-upon metrics, such as schedule and budget. This role will interface directly with external customers such as aircraft OEMs, operators, suppliers, and regulators, and requires the ability to clearly communicate technical and tactical objectives across different departments. 


 Job Responsibilities and Required Skills

· Create project plans, including initial schedule and budget planning

· Daily tracking of project schedule and cost

· Identify, mitigate, and track project risks

· Lead inter-discipline program team meetings

· Coordination of project tasks across multiple departments

· Authoring of reports of a technical nature 

· Creation of presentations and briefing senior management on program progress 

· Direct interaction with internal/external customers

· Contribute to bid and proposals, lead scope of work (SOW) definition/compliance

· Manage adherence to contractual SOW during project execution

· Coordinate NPI to ensure seamless transition from Design Engineering to Production

· Program KPI tracking across multiple projects

· Provide perspective of various departments in project related meetings

· Periodic travel to support project related activities

· Support ongoing development of company strategy

·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Will be required to interface with internal and external customers on a daily basis


Requirements

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience in project based execution, with direct leadership of several projects, and demonstrated success executing to schedule, performance, and cost parameters. 
  • BS in an Engineering field preferred.

Experience in the following areas:

· Mechanical design principles

· Electrical design principles

· Manufacturing environments

· Program Management Institute PMP certification

· Organizational tools such as GANTT, resource, waterfall charts

· Project management

· Budget oversight

· Working within a matrix reporting environment

· Proficient with MS office, including MS Project

· Enterprise Resource Planning software

· Exposure to aerospace quality systems, i.e., AS 9100. 

· Exposure to FAA certification preferred
