Position Title: Development Manager


Reports to: Executive Director


Type of Position: Staff


Hours: 80% – 32 hours/4-day workweek


Schedule: Combination of remote and onsite hours. Must be available for

meetings on a weekly basis, as well as occasional evening and

weekend meetings or events.


Salary: Commensurate with experience

Vacation and a sabbatical, commensurate with years of service to the

organization.

One Earth Collective, a community-based organization founded in the Oak Park

and River Forest area, focuses its work in three areas – the One Earth Film

Festival, an environmental leader in the Chicago region; One Earth Youth

Voices, which offers the Young Filmmakers Contest, Austin Grown and other

youth-focused programs; and One Earth Local (formerly Green Community

Connections), which works collaboratively to build resilient, environmentally

sustainable communities. Our mission is to harness the power of people through

vibrant environmental programming that inspires action, facilitates learning,

promotes justice, and fosters equity and inclusion to create resilient

communities and a healthier planet.


Brief Description of the Position:

The Development Manager will implement fundraising initiatives including

sponsorships, a festival membership program, and other individual giving,

working closely with the grants manager and the Board, Executive Director and staff to achieve the Organization’s fundraising objectives and ensure that day-to-day fundraising activities are completed.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities include:

1. Identifying and soliciting new corporate and organizational sponsors for

the One Earth Film Festival, One Earth Youth Voices, and One Earth Local

programming, and ensuring renewal of returning sponsors;


2. Expanding the organization’s donor and Membership program, partnering

with Marketing team to grow the Member base and identifying

opportunities to upgrade and retain existing members through delivery of

benefits, regular stewardship, and member cultivation events;


3. Designing and implementing sponsorship, membership and donor

campaigns, (e.g., Giving Tuesday) and benefits, including social media

and donor acknowledgement;


4. Designing and implementing festival and non-festival fundraising events

(e.g., winter stewardship event, festival launch party, fall fundraiser), with

some support from a part-time/seasonal events coordinator.


5. Preparing and administering sponsorship proposals, invoices and written

acknowledgement of cash and in-kind donations;


6. Maintaining database (DonorSnap) of existing and prospective donors,

sponsors and funders, with gift tracking, acknowledgment, and reporting;


7. Maintaining ongoing detailed and up-to-date reporting and development

tracking and project management tools;


8. Working with marketing personnel to create impactful print and electronic

communications for donor solicitation and stewardship;


9. Reporting to board and staff regularly with status updates, and attending

regular and ad hoc team meetings for updates, coordination, and

collaboration.


Qualifications and Skills


Fundraising:

● 3 years in nonprofit fundraising

● Experience working with businesses and individual donors

● Ability to initiate, foster and grow relationships with individuals and

organizations

● Experience implementing fundraising drives and membership programs


Management:

● Ability to work effectively with a broad demographic of people, and a range

of groups from corporate to grassroots

● Strong organizational skills

● Strong attention to detail

● Excellent time-management skills, with ability to prioritize and manage

multiple competing deadlines


Additional Skills:

● Excellent written and oral communication skills

● Competency handling sensitive and/or confidential information

● Self-starter able to work independently

● Experience with donor database use and management

● Comfortable learning and using software applications and online

technology

● Experience with basic level of graphic design is a plus
