Description
Job Summary: The Certified Medical Coder will read and abstract physician office notes and operative notes to apply correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and modifier coding assignments.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Key Responsibilities

Abide by the standards of ethical coding and adhere to official coding guidelines

Code and review charges as well as data entry as applicable.

Identify problem accounts with coding errors and review documentation for correction as applicable.

Answer inquiries regarding coding when applicable.

Query providers and staff to obtain information for clarification of coding and billing.

Apply appropriate coding/billing guidelines on the front end to ensure clean claims to payer.

Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
-
Current coding certification required.
-
Two (2) years experience in billing/coding for medical practice required.

Medical coding and billing experience with E&M, ancillary and procedure coding in an office or facility setting required.

Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Working knowledge of payer specific guidelines including Medicare rules and regulations required.

Demonstrates knowledge and remains current regarding CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes required.
