Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Transportation Manager. Delivery Driver’s primary responsibilities include transporting company products to clients, carrying out vehicle maintenance checks and interacting with clients in a professional conduct. The Meat Company is a physical, fast-paced, position that involves deliveries to California businesses, and handling of packages that typically weigh between 20 - 60 lbs. and may weigh up to 80 lbs. Delivery Drivers must have excellent customer interaction and safe and courteous driving skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
- Operate a 53 ft. refrigerated delivery truck weighing up to 80,000 lbs. gross.
- Perform daily, on-time deliveries to customers throughout California.
- Clean and maintain delivery trucks (interior and exterior) daily.
- Maintain maintenance records and delivery log documentation.
- Perform pick-up and drop-off of product inventory.
- Safeguard truck, inventory, and payments.
- Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicle.
- Comply with state’s vehicle code, along with all state and federal laws, regulations and all OWT policies and procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience.
- Ability to operate a vehicle safely and in compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must possess proficient ability to communicate in English in oral and written format.
- Ability to apply discretion and trust with confidential material.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering data
- Ability to effectively apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time managing skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
