Description
Oneida Health is currently seeking a per-diem Medical Technologist to provide as needed coverage at the Oneida Health Oncology Center. This position would furnish continual coverage of processing and testing for patients prior to their infusions. The Medical Technologist is responsible for providing accurate, timely, and cost effective testing of patient samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease in compliance and harmony with the quality management system.
*Hourly range: $30 - $40/hour

What You’ll be Great At:
- Determining normal and abnormal components of blood and body fluids by conducting chemical analysis of blood, urine, and other body fluids.
- Analyzing blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using both automated and microscopic techniques and procedures.
- Preparing blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusion by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
- Selecting and issuing appropriate products for transfusion.
- Ensuring operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating, completing preventative maintenance requirements, and calling for repairs or malfunctions as needed.
- Accurately completing records and reports for master files or databases.
- Performing all testing in accordance with standard operating procedures, manufacturer’s instructions, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
Your Essential Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a school approved by NYSED
- Experience:
- 1-2 years in a hospital based clinical laboratory (preferred)
- Licensure:
- NYS Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist / Medical Technologist
