Technical Job Functions
• Assist in maintaining safety guidelines, procedures, and policies
• Provide initial new-hire safety training and follow-up intei'action for new employees.
• Assists the Company with accident management and prevention.
• Maintain and file documentation needed for’ reporting to controlling agencies with the approval of EHS
• Record and keep up to date the all Site Incident Graph.
• Assist with required testing and third-party resources when needed, i.e. hearing exams, respirator fit testing and air sampling. Working with EHS to insure that all sites' safety and environmental policies and procedures reflect current state and federal regulatory agencies requirements.
• Coach and mentor employees on working safely and identifying areas for improvement, formally or informally, as required, focusing on behavior modifications.
• Working with the EHS establish plans of action to promote employee involvement in accident prevention activities; which includes observation and feedback to correct at-risk behaviors of co-workers as well as recognition and propagation of safe behaviors.
• Create annual safety training calendar and work with Human Resources to ensure that appropriate training/e-learning programs are available, delivered and tracked for compliance; responsible for reviewing/approving e-learning options.
• Facilitate new hire orientation for full-time employees and temporary associates as required.
• Working with EHS assist in developing and implementing an Ergonomics program
• Participate in/leading the safety committees to review committee structure and encourage more participation from mana8ement and other areas of the plant; getting involved with all sites.
• Update information on Safety intranet site, bulletin boards and provide communication materials on safety topics to be shared with employees monthly by supervisors and tracked for participation and compliance.
• Assist with emergency response activities including planning, drills and response.
• Provide Safety updates.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
Assist the environmental area in policy update requirements and EHS site development for each site.
Work Experience
• Assume other projects and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
• Regular and predictable attendance is presumed to be an essential function of all positions.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks under minimal supervision.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships within assigned teams and with all departments, internal and external clients as applicable per assignment.
• Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time to other sites.
• The Safety Assistant oversees facility with safety as the focus.
• Enforce safety guidelines through effective disciplinary action as per each individual eas
