What You'll Do as a Sheet Metal Installer:

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment.
• Select the appropriate gage and type of sheet metal based on product requirements.
• Locate and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets.
• Operate fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch presses.
• Shape metal using hammers, anvils, and forms.
• Utilize soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts.
• Smooth seams and burrs using files and grinders.
• Install assemblies according to blueprint specifications.
• Inspect assemblies for conformance to quality standards using measuring instruments.

What You'll Need:

• Strong understanding of shop math
• Proficiency with tools, metals, and machines
• Ability to visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings, sketches, or blueprints
• Attention to detail and precision
• Adaptability to changing tasks and duties
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Physical fitness, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, and stand for extended periods
