What are the responsibilities and job description for the Processing Lead II - Hampton Processing position at Opal Foods?
Opal Foods is currently accepting applications for the position of Lead II for our Hampton, IA egg processing plant. This position is responsible for overseeing the grader machine and the egg packaging team to ensure a smooth run and reduce downtime while maintaining compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations. This position will also assist the Processing Manager with other projects and duties as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Organize and communicate which lanes will be running which egg size, carton, label, and in what order
- Prepare and print accurate and correctly formatted labels according to Opal and customer specifications based on the daily run list and place labels on the corresponding packer lane
- Ensure all “date/label” printers are on, accurately dated, and correctly adjusted for format and readability based on each specific carton and lane
- Ensure all moving parts such as overhead egg belt, lubing belt, nest runs etc. are ready for start up
- For locations with EB eggs, prepare EB stampers by ensuring all EB stampers have been properly wiped with stamp cleaner prior to start up
- Ensure lanes and denesters are properly staffed before start up to ensure egg flow remains consistent to meet the demands of each day’s run list
- Assist with all starts and stops of the Grader machine including break-times, start up and shut down
- Communicate changes, updates, and overall guidance to processing teams including, but not limited to packers, stackers, denesters, loaders, transporters, and warehouse leads etc.
- Assist with daily reports and preparation for the next day
- Coach and train team members
- Adhere to all company Good Manufacturing Procedures, Safe Quality Foods and Safety Policies
Physical Requirements of a Maintenance Lead:
- Fast paced work environment
- Lift fifty or more pounds on a regular basis
- Bend, lift, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb
Requirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)
- Demonstrates the ability to lead others
- Must demonstrate attention to details
- Must be able to work at a fast-pace, stand, walk, and complete repetitive tasks extended time periods
- Must be available to be scheduled for work 7 days a week including holidays
- Prior experience/training in a this or a similar processing facility
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English
- Must be able to stay until eggs have sufficiently run out of houses. Work shift may vary and extend past a normal 8 hour work day or end before 8 hours in a day
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a food production/manufacturing environment
