POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Position location: Northeastern United States
Under the general direction of the Sr. Director of Field HR, East Division and working collaboratively with the Regional Operations leaders, The HR Manager, Union Locations (HRM) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with associates and management in designated locations. The position formulates partnerships across the HR and Operations functions to deliver value-added service to management and associates that reflect the business objectives of Extended Stay America and are aligned with ESA's contractual obligations. The HRM maintains an effective level of business literacy about the location(s) financial position, its culture, and its competition. This is a hands-on Manager level position with responsibility in all facets of HR with specific emphasis on Labor Relations, contract negotiations, talent management, performance management, staffing, retention, compliance, and associate relations. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for Operations and other positions in the HR department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Use discretional and administrative authority to make people related decisions and choices with some degree of flexibility, while maintaining compliance with Extended Stay America's Human Resources policies and practices.
* Conducts weekly touch base meetings with District and General Managers at assigned locations.
* Consults with General Managers, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
* Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
* Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
* Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal and contractual requirements related to day-to-day management of associates, reducing legal risks, and ensuring compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
* Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to property leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
* Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
* Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
* Provides guidance and input on workforce planning and succession planning.
* Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
* Builds and maintains strong partnerships with the Regional Management team including District Managers and General Managers and Hotel Support Center Executive Management Team to ensure all HR deliverables are aligned with Company's business needs.
* Compensation -- Coordinates and advises on compensation matters for the Region(s). Assists with incentive plan communications to the Region(s). Assists with the administration of the Compensation policies.
* Oversees, communicates, and drives the consistent implementation of the company's HR practices, systems, and personnel-related activities. Serves as an advocate in implementing and maintaining HR practices that ensure safe workplaces, associate development, and an open communication for problem resolution.
* Coordinate associate engagement and recognition programs.
* Produce reporting and analyze how the business units are performing against our contractual obligations.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
