The Lead RN functions as an integral member of the healthcare team and is responsible for:
Assist the site Practice Manager and RN Clinical Leader with day-to-day oversight of direct and indirect patient care activities, providing necessary support to the physician and other department staff within established guidelines and protocols. Provides quality patient care by assuring a smooth work and patient flow within the department. Acts as liaison between patient/physician and other departments.
The Lead RN is responsible for and not limited to:
- Understands expectations of site leadership and is involved as part of the site leadership team.
- Serves as a liaison and resource for all staff and providers.
- Supports and advocates for implementation of new processes, clarifying questions from team members and advocating team concerns back to site leadership in a timely manner.
- Proactively seeks team feedback about ongoing TEC projects and/or initiatives.
- Understands, role models, and audits standard work, policies, protocols, and guidelines for Primary Care.
- Documents patient information in the electronic health record following standard work guidelines.
- Assists patients with the arrangement of appointments, referrals, tests and treatments prescribed/ordered by physician or advanced care practitioner.
- Assists the provider or registered nurse in providing routine treatment instructions, test results & patient recall / follow-up.
Preferred Experience and Credentials:
Knowledge of professional theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Knowledge and ability to teach and apply current theories, techniques and practice.
Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Skill in maintaining electronic medical records and recording test results. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians advanced care practitioners and the public. Critical thinking skills.
Ability to maintain quality control standards. Demonstrates an ability to clearly communicate (verbal and written). Professional appearance and interacts with others in a caring, respectful manner. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Education: BS or AA degree in Nursing
Experience: 2-3 years related experience preferred. Previous supervisory experience desirable. Familiarity with the department and its operations preferred.
Certificate/License:
- Current Washington State RN License
- Current American Heart Association BLS Provider certification required.
