Function/Duties of Position

The nurse in this position will provide comprehensive care to pediatric urology patients in an ambulatory setting, including the provision of education, assisting with procedures, and oversight and response to phone triage requests from patients and families. The Registered Nurse provides complex care coordination, extensive phone triage, and clinic management including the shared facilitation of clinical research trials. In addition, the nurse will coordinate multi-discipline care plans for patients as needed as well as be responsible to assist to coordinate the urology sub-specialty clinics.
The OHSU registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics and meets the standards/expectations of the OHSU Nursing Professional Practice Model. In that model, the RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transfer. Professional accountability enriches the RN’s engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork.

Required Qualifications
- External applicants: Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing Degree from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
- Internal ONA applicants: Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum one year of pediatric nursing experience
- Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
- BLS must not expire during orientation or probation period, and must have the same expiration date (upload documentation with online application)
- Strong analytic skills; demonstrated organizational skills; demonstrated problem solving skills; demonstrated communication skills both interpersonal and conflict resolution including fluency in oral and written English; demonstrated planning skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting; Intermediate computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use the Electronic Health Record information and tools
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN preferred for all current OHSU employees
- Previous experience with Epic EMR
- Previous experience with Urology
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) certification
Additional Details
Usual orientation time- up to 6 months and dependent on experience and successful demonstration of competencies.
