Job Description
Corporate Counsel (5-7 years experience) or Senior Counsel (8-9years’ experience) will provide legal expertise to Denali’s family of companies on contract review and negotiation, dispute resolution, and other legal matters
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, operations, and others in the legal team
- Support negotiations of claims, manage contractual changes, and resolve disputes or conflict resolution with contractors
- Experience with maintaining contracts within a contract management software a plus
- Ensure compliance with the company’s policies, standards, and procedures
- Provide accurate and timely counsel to executives on a variety of legal topics
- Ability to work remotely in an efficient manner and in a quiet and confidential environment
- Domestic travel 1-2 times per year
Education and Experience
- J.D. Degree with 5-9 years of practice experience specifically relevant to the position
- Required to be admitted to the bar and in good standing in Texas, Arkansas, or California, or admitted to the bar and in good standing in another state and eligible for licensure as in-house counsel
- Experience working within both a law firm and in-house legal department
- Must have exceptional skills in reviewing, revising, and negotiating a wide variety of contract terms and scopes of work in conjunction with operational and legal requirements, including sales contracts, NDAs, supply contracts, leases, and subcontractor agreements
- Must be highly focused and task-oriented
- Strong understanding of contract terms and contract structure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Keen attention to detail with an ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical, and spelling errors
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise excellent judgment
- Municipal contract review experience a plus
- Corporate governance experience a plus
