Position Description
Origis Energy is seeking a talented DG Site Acquisition Manager responsible for managing greenfield land campaigns and securing optimal sites for solar development supporting our origination strategy. The Site Acquisition Manager reports to the VP of Distributed Generation and will identify, structure, negotiate and execute real estate transactions with a wide range of property owners and third parties for the development of community and small utility scale solar (2-30MWac) and energy storage assets across the United States. The Site Acquisition Manager must possess a strong working knowledge of real estate transactions and title matters, be an innovative thinker, fast-learner, collaborative worker, and self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry and track record of success thriving in a high growth environment. The candidate must have strong communication, decision-making, and negotiating skills with a dynamic personality. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct landowner outreach and establish relationships with a list of targeted landowners to secure viable solar development sites.
- Negotiate commercial terms on all facets of the site acquisition deal cycle, including letters of intent, options, leases, purchase agreements, and easements.
- Draft real estate documents with agreed upon terms.
- Work with outside consultants, land agents, counsel, and specialists to obtain site control.
- Researching contact information and cold-calling landowners.
- Manage and coordinate multiple projects and work efforts with other team members in an organized, flawless manner.
- Act as Origis Energy’s first point of contact and primary liaison with landowners.
- Educate landowners on the solar development business and process.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years’ experience of real estate acquisition and/or development experience, ideally with some renewable energy industry knowledge/exposure and experience with early-stage project development.
- Comfortable working in both rural and metropolitan environments.
- Understanding and familiarity with title matters, land use, land (ALTA) surveys, GIS and other real estate related activities.
- Rigorous attention to detail, work ethic, personal responsibility, work product ownership and organizational skills.
- Proven negotiation acumen and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment.
- Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills; ability to add value through creative input and forward-thinking.
- Driven, resourceful and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
- Understanding of basic real estate legal principals, title, and contract terms.
- Competence with basic mapping software (GoogleEarth) and other GIS software tools.
- Team player with strong ability to work with strict deadlines. Must be able to work independently as needed.
- BA/BS Degree; energy, real estate, or a master’s degree is a plus.
