Position Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and friendly Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will excel in providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing administrative tasks. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for welcoming patients, verifying insurance information, collecting payments, and effectively communicating with both patients and office staff.
Responsibilities:
Greet patients in a warm and friendly manner as they arrive for their appointments.
Efficiently check patients in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems or other office software.
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, ensuring accurate information is obtained.
Collect copayments, deductibles, and outstanding balances from patients, and process payments securely.
Answer phone calls and emails promptly, addressing patient inquiries and scheduling appointments as needed.
Coordinate with medical staff to ensure timely patient flow and address any scheduling conflicts.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area, ensuring a comfortable environment for patients.
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents as required.
Collaborate with office staff to ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to compliance standards.
Handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
Previous experience in a medical office setting or customer service role preferred.
Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic office software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on customer service.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as needed.
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is desirable but not required.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
