What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Coding Specialist position at OSF HealthCare?
Position could offer full remote near an OSF HealthCare location in the State of Illinois which could include: Alton, Bloomington, Danville, Galesburg, Kewanee, Monmouth, Peru, Princeton, Ottawa, Urbana, Chicagoland area including Evergreen Park.
Travel will be needed when training needs to occur at any hospital or facility.
Salary range for this position is $59,155-$69,596; Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Coding Specialist oversees the coordination of accurate and compliant coding and charging to ensure adherence to established current ICD codes and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines along with all governmental and third party payers policies. The position ensures coding quality and productivity standards achieved and maintained for all coded data. Specialist serves as coding expert for revenue cycle division and facility departments within OSF HealthCare. In addition the Specialist completes special projects assigned and provides backup to all revenue cycle coding positions.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associates Degree in the following discipline: HIM (Healthcare Information Managerment), Business, Accounting, Health Services
Other Licenses/Certifications: CPC, RHIA, RHIT or CCS
Experience: 1 year experience in outpatient or inpatient coding
Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachleors Degree
Experience: 3 years experience in outpatient or inpatient coding
Other requirements/information: ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS and modifier knowledge.
