Registered Nurse
Reports to: Site Administrator
Union: OEA
PURPOSE STATEMENT
This position's primary responsibility is to provide a variety of health care services to students and communicate with parents of students under the direction of the school administrator and Director of Safety & Health Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides direct nursing care of health and illness needs of individuals during the school day in adherence to Washington State Schools policies and procedures.
- Maintains records of services provided to students following appropriate confidentiality guidelines.
- Review health room procedures.
- Provide support and training to Nurse Assistants.
- Follow-up on processing home and hospital forms.
- Assist with school screenings.
- Review and maintain student record files for high-risk medical care needs.
- Development and distribution of emergency care plans.
- Delegate selected functions as allowed by state laws, including but not limited to: oral medications, emergency medications and certain medical procedures.
- Follow-up on needed medical concerns identified during registration and as needed.
- Assist the Director of Safety & Health Services with infectious concerns, immunizations and other health concerns.
- In conjunction with the Director of Safety & Health Services, serve as a liaison between school, home, and medical personnel.
- Other related duties as assigned consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
- Ability to focus (adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred.
- Registered Nurse License in the state of Washington.
- Must be able to obtain ESA certification with the state of Washington.
- Dependable, trustworthy, experience working with children and adults, good time manager, initiative.
- Current First Aid/CPR card (must keep current and up to date)
- Experience in pediatrics and/or public health nursing (Preferred)
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Starting Date: 2024-2025 School Year (180 total contracted days)
Salary: $63,612 - $119,895 annual salary. Based on education and experience Per OEA CBA - 2024-2025 Salary Schedule
Retirement: Pension through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems
