About the Job
The Marketing Manager in our publishing organization serves as a vital conduit between the development team and the wider publishing organization, providing valuable feedback and insights to enhance game development and resonate with the audience. They are responsible for developing and managing the brand strategy throughout the game's lifecycle, collaborating closely with game development studios to create a cohesive brand identity and positioning. This includes creating global brand plans and overseeing the creation of key assets to establish a clear visual and narrative identity for the game. The Marketing Manager also executes strategic and tactical elements to generate interest and drive sales in specific regions, coordinates events to promote the game effectively, manages media agency relationships, and stays informed about industry trends to inform product development and business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a conduit between the development team and the publishing organization, providing feedback and insights to enhance game development and resonate with the audience.
- Develops and manages the brand strategy throughout the game's lifecycle, from conception to post-launch.
- Collaborates with game development studios to create a cohesive brand identity and positioning by understanding the game's features, storyline, and target audience.
- Creates global brand plans as the foundation for specific territory go-to-market (GTM) plans, ensuring consistent and aligned marketing activities.
- Manages the creation of key assets, such as product positioning, key art, and trailers, to establish a clear visual and narrative identity for the game.
- Ensures all assets adhere to the established brand guidelines by providing final review and approval.
- Executes strategic and tactical elements to generate interest and drive sales in specific regions, aligning with the brand identity.
- Creates and owns long-lead GTMs tailored to specific regions, encompassing strategic and tactical elements to generate regional interest, and drives integrated long-lead marketing with communications and other cross-functional teams.
- Manages media agency relationship and implements data-informed media mix for a region.
- Coordinates and executes events, such as trade shows, community events, and streaming events.
- Works with internal teams, partners, and vendors to plan and execute events, managing logistics and ensuring all materials and equipment are in place.
- Identifies trends in the gaming industry, including consumer behaviors, competitive landscape, and emerging markets, and uses market research and player feedback to guide product development and business strategy.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- A strong background and understanding of the gaming industry, including trends, player behaviors, and market dynamics, is essential to effectively market and position video games.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful marketing strategies and campaigns across various channels, including digital, social media, influencer marketing, and events.
- Ability to create and manage brand strategies for video games, ensuring consistent messaging, positioning, and visual identity throughout the game's lifecycle.
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including game development studios, PR, community management, and media agencies, to achieve cohesive and aligned marketing efforts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate the game's features, storyline, and value proposition to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in analyzing market data, consumer insights, and performance metrics to inform marketing decisions and optimize campaigns.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and coordinate with internal teams, partners, and vendors.
- A creative mindset to develop unique and compelling marketing campaigns that stand out in a competitive gaming landscape.
