Laundry Supervisor

Purpose of Your Job Position:
Ovation is a Luxury Senior Living Community looking to provide Residents with a Four Diamond hospitality experience.
Job Functions:
The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the Laundry Department and to deliver an excellent Guest experience. Additional responsibilities include training, scheduling and supervising personnel within the department. Holds Staff members accountable for achieving the cleanliness, organization and service standards of Ovation.
Qualifications (Essential):
- Minimum two years’ experience as a Housekeeper
- Knowledge of laundry techniques (washing, drying, folding), chemical handling requirements and use of equipment.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with Residents, Management and Co-workers to their understanding.
- Ability to provide legible communication
- Ability to do basic arithmetic
Qualifications (Desired):
- Hospitality experience as a Hotel or Condominium Laundry Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Franchise brand experience (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, etc.)
- Previous supervisory experience
- Previous guest relations training
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability to communicate in a second language (preferably Spanish)
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises the Laundry Operation at Ovation. Duties include weekly Resident bed linen changes, Resident personal laundry and commercial linen. Develop and implement best practices and procedures.
- Directs the daily activities of the Laundry Department. Ensuring that laundry is picked up and dropped off in a timely manner and confirming that personal laundry is returned to the proper apartment.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to get things done and make Residents and Co-workers happy. When presented with an opportunity or challenge; your cup is half full (not half empty) and the answer to the question or problem is YES – we can get it done, fix the issue and take care of the problem. You are resourceful and a Solution Provider.
- Trains and schedules the Laundry Team. Assess productivity of Team members and promote a positive, team-oriented environment that rewards efficiency and attention to detail.
- Report and coordinate any laundry machinery repairs or preventive maintenance that is necessary.
- Completes weekly labor schedules that are timely and accurate; and adhere to occupancy levels and budgetary guidelines and presents to the Executive Housekeeper weekly.
- Ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well being of all Residents and Employees in a safe secure environment.
- Supports, cooperates with and implements specific procedures and programs for: safety (including universal precautions and safe work practices), fire, risk management, disaster and security plans. Report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs. Follows up and maintains compliance with all OSHA programs, policies and procedures.
- Maintains control of employee uniforms and ensures that employees are in proper uniform and in compliance with dress code policies at all times.
- Is responsible for equipment inventory and keeps all equipment in good working order.
- Compliance with all current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
- Enforces standard procedures for the acceptance, security and return of Resident lost and found items.
- Performs Housekeeping, Laundry and Houseperson functions whenever necessary.
Working Conditions
- Moves consistently during working hours.
- Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, COVID19, AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Communicates with the medical team, nursing personnel, and other department personnel.
