Laboratory Technician

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Living Safely

• Participates in regular safety meetings and safety audits
• Ensures rigorous compliance to standard safety procedures and OC corporate policies
• Focuses on sustaining a safe work environment for self, team, and coworkers.

Provides Technical Support on Projects

• Small and full-scale testing of materials including provide sample preparation, material movement from storage to test, unit prepare/removal of test units
• Work closely with lab staff to meet customer expectations for quality, communication, and achievement of lab outcomes.
• Applies technical support to evaluate product performance.
• Balances multiple assignments across one or more projects.
• Develop and Guard Intellectual Property – this role is exposed to proprietary information, equipment, test methods, formulations, and confidential customers information
• Applies understanding of ASTM or other laboratory test methods to effectively test samples.
• Safely conducts laboratory experiments and documents results
• Supports unique or ad hoc testing to identify product/material performance in unique applications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree in science or engineering.
• Proficiency employing typical productivity software such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); experienced in working with spreadsheets.
• Hands-on aptitude and ability to support fast-prototyping (e.g. product mockups).
• Ability to frequently lift 50lbs

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
• Experience in fiberglass and/or mineral wool insulation products and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment related to preparation, formulating, and testing product samples.
• Hands-on experience in developing new test equipment and test methods.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to interact and relate to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to develop an understanding of end-user, specifier, fabricator, and OC manufacturing needs.
• Good communication skills to report out results and observations.
• Demonstrated ability to safely adapt thinking and trial plans to the demands of the moment in a high-pressure environment.
• Able to understand a broad range of technical issues.
• Learning of test methods and flexibility to adapt based on guidance by scientists and engineers.

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $24.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Granville, OH: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

• Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

• Laboratory: 3 years (Required)
• prototype testing: 1 year (Preferred)
