Summary
Counsellors are the first point of contact for our students outside of lessons, not only responsible for their everyday safety and well-being (on campus and on trips) but also for their broader academic achievement and enjoyment. The US pastoral team provides students with enduring memories and the experience of a lifetime, fulfilling two key roles:
- supporting an integrated academic program led by a team of experienced teachers
- delivering extra-curricular activities
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise student safety while on and off campus, in transit and at all external excursion sites
- Lead activities to enrich the Academic Program, maintaining mature professional standards
- Contribute to the organisation, content and delivery of the Social and Enrichment Programs to optimise the students' experience
- Report safeguarding issues to the senior leadership team
- Represent Oxford Royale brand values and inspire a love of learning
- This role will be based at one of our summer sites in UC Berkeley for the month of July
- Working hours will be approximately 50 hours per week across 6 days. This includes morning, afternoon, and night shifts as assigned by Campus Management
- The weekly salary range is $700 to $1,000 depending on experience and assigned duties, and is subject to satisfactory background security checks
- Our courses are for international students aged 16-18, and run in 2-week sessions in July
- Mandatory training and campus set up will take place during the week before student arrivals.
- Approachable and personable but with the ability to observe and communicate strict organisational schedules and codes of behaviour, in a firm and polite manner
- A team player who is willing to thoroughly immerse themselves in Oxford Royale's courses, activities and events
- Fluent speaker of English
- Interest in supporting seminars and visits which enrich the US curricula in the subject areas of Business, Law, Engineering or Medicine
- Good self-discipline, organisational and task completion skills
- Someone who is passionate about working with international students of varying ages
- Completed first graduate degree or in undergraduate course
- Some pastoral and safeguarding experience working with children and young people
- Able to lead activities in an area of specific interest in sports, the arts, technology, etc.
- Knowledge of how vacation courses operate
- Work achievements in positions involving customer service in hospitality, travel or event management
Salary : $700 - $1,000
