The role
The Accessibility Manager will champion accessibility and disability inclusion across PAC NYC to ensure that the organization is welcoming to people with disabilities. Taking a multi-faceted approach towards accessibility and working with teams across the organization, this role will be responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of accessibility initiatives to ensure that PAC NYC is accessible for all.
Your key responsibilities
- Evaluate current accessibility standards at PAC NYC and make recommendations to improve accessibility across the organization.
- Evaluate and identify opportunities to enhance the overall experience of our audience members with disabilities across their customer journey.
- Diagnose accessibility barriers and work towards solutions to meet the needs of our diverse audiences.
- Propose and oversee a budget for organizational accessibility programs.
- Work cross-functionally with other departments to create accessibility strategies specific to their departments.
- Working closely with our Audience Services team, respond to audience complaints and feedback regarding issues of accessibility.
- Work closely with our IT and Marketing team to build an inclusive digital user experience on our website and on other digital platforms.
- Assist with implementation and testing of accessibility tools for audiences such as closed captioning and audio description devices.
- Create and implement formalized accessibility policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and consistency of approach across the organization.
- Stay current on emerging accessibility technologies and best practices, providing practical insights and training to PAC NYC teams, as necessary.
- May be assigned other related tasks, as required.
What it takes to be successful in the role
- Strong working knowledge of key accessibility-related legislation, including the Americans with Disabilities Act regulations and guidelines.
- Strong working knowledge of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines including WCAG 2.2 and principles of universal design. ADA Coordinator or CPACC certifications a plus.
- Strong digital / technical skills, with a focus on user experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and very effective working in a team environment.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and a proven track record of delivering high quality results.
- A “how” not “whether” mentality regarding implementing accessibility standards.
- Problem solver with strong prioritization skills.
- Prior experience working in, or a personal interest for, the performing arts.
Compensation and benefits
Annual salary will range between $60,000 - $65,000 plus full benefits. Our benefits package include health, dental, vision, life, disability benefits, and health care and dependent day care flexible spending accounts. Full time employees are eligible for paid time off and 401K enrollment with employer match.
