Job Title: Store Assistant Manager
Department: Operations
Reports To: Store Manager
Position Summary: The Store Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the store manager with operations and customer support. Supervise the sales staff in the absence of the store manager. Provides support in paperwork, inventory control, and store safety and cleanliness. Assistant Manager needs to keep the store manager well informed of activities and significant problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Achievement of goals through store performance, merchandising, and customer service.
- Ensure store paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner according to company policy.
- Coach train and develop employees. Provide training, set performance goals and provide feedback to all direct reports.
- Supervises and well as participates in the unloading of trucks, sorting of merchandise, stocking shelves, tagging shelves, and the reconciliation of all cash and inventory transactions.
- Takes a proactive role in establishing and carrying out shrink and cash control programs and accepts high level of responsibility for store’s shrink and cash performance.
- Assists in distributing work assignments to employees. Ensures maintenance, cleaning and store appearance is up to company standards.
- Take appropriate and document disciplinary action on employees in accordance with company guidelines.
- Ensure store-level compliance with company standards of safety, security, facility maintenance, postings/notifications and other administrative duties.
- Assist the Area Supervisor with the monthly store inventory counts.
Customer Service
- Insure that employees wear name tags and adhere to dress code.
- Insure that employees are knowledgeable about products and services.
- All employees give customers 100% of their attention.
Communication
- Ensure all communication to the store personnel is effective, positive, and supportive.
- Respond to email and messages within one work day (24 hours).
- Insure that store personnel are executing the communications received from the office.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- In absence of the store manager, directly supervises store personnel who handle day-to-day operations in handling customer needs, selling merchandise, stocking shelves, operating a cash register, preparing food, and provide safety training in accordance with published policies and procedures.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications
- Position requires on-call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Work schedule varies each week and includes working nights and weekends.
- Self-motivator with strong communication, organizational and leadership skills required.
- Demonstrated managerial skills required.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common retail information, policies/procedures, and operational reports.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, management, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to direct reports.
- Basic Math ability is required. (i.e. add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in either written or oral form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands
- Employee must be able to communicate effectively.
- Mobility to move freely throughout store on a continual basis throughout the workday.
- Employee is frequently required to stand and walk, sit and talk.
- Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
