Job Description
The Associate Archaeologist will oversee work independently and with a larger crew on archaeological surveys, archaeological testing, and archaeological data recovery projects. The Associate Archaeologist must be able to walk several miles daily, over all types of terrain, and be able to excavate in a variety of conditions. Travel throughout central and northern California is anticipated (primarily throughout Bay Area). Familiarity with artifacts and features common to the Bay Area specifically, or California in general is required. Experience writing CRM reports is a plus. Successful candidates must meet or exceed the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards, Code of Federal Regulations 36 CFR Part 61 for Archaeology. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, and project bonuses will be offered for exceptional performance.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills
- Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field is required
- 3 years cultural resource management experience
- 1 years of professional archaeological experience in California is preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and commitment to achieving team goals
- Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, a positive work ethic, reliability, and commitment to working both independently and in a team environment
- A valid U.S. driver’s license is required at the time of employment
