The Details:

The Compliance Manager will provide hands-on compliance support for Palomar’s growing compliance department.


What will you do?:

  • Accomplishes regulatory and financial reporting compliance objectives by hands on state filings in conjunction with our finance teams and other stakeholders.
  • Monitors internal operational compliance standards and designs improvements to internal control structures.
  • Manages and updates the company’s compliance calendars.
  • Minimizes legal risks by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing regulations, recommending new procedures, and complying with legal requirements.
  • Conducts internal compliance audits.
  • Assists with building robust reporting around compliance metrics.
  • Works with the VP of Compliance and other managers to develop and implement corporate governance policies and guidelines.
  • Communicates with regulatory officials to manage compliance filings in applicable states.
  • Helps attract new business partners by maintaining state-of-the-art compliance programs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.


Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • 5 years relevant work experience in insurance compliance environment, preferably in the Excess and Surplus Insurance market.
  • International Compliance Association (ICA) certification, Certified Securities Compliance Professional (CSCP)
  • Compliance management
  • Compliance research
  • Quality management
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Audit skills
  • Organization, project management, and strategic planning skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks
