Responsibilities (summary): The materials handler will be responsible for the transportation, preparation and staging of materials used in daily production and assembly. Duties will include loading, unloading, and moving materials within warehouses and storage facilities. Additionally, the materials handler helps monitor and maintain parts inventory levels and keeps assembly workstations properly stocked.
Specific Job Function:
- Operate materials-handling equipment to move large volumes of materials.
- Load and unload materials, move pallets
- Operate materials preparation machinery including commercial sheet cutters
- Keep assembly workstations properly stocked with materials and supplies at all times
- Follow a lean pull or Kanban system for supplying all workstations efficiently
- Process orders; handle inventory, retrieval of component parts
- Stage and deliver materials in a timely manner
- Keep accurate records of usage, participate and understand scheduling needs, inventory, and production output
- Must be able to follow management instruction and work independently to meet schedules
- Occasional use of light hand tools
- General maintenance and cleaning related tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of inventory systems and processes
- Forklift Certification required
- Physical exertion is common to many tasks. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, kneel, sit, and climb stairs.
- Steel toe shoes required
- Safety Glasses required.
- Ability to work overtime, as assigned
