What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crossing Guard position at Park Inc?
Park Inc is looking for safety conscious individuals to join our school traffic control team in Norway, CT. This is a part time position working anywhere from 30 mins to 1.5 hours in the morning before school starts and in the afternoon after school is out on all days school is in session.
Crossing Guard Traffic Control Attendants are responsible for the coordination of all duties involving the direction and assistance of school bus vehicles and student parent vehicles into and out of assigned schools. This involves assessing traffic flow and directing vehicles in order to give buses and parent vehicles the ability to enter/exit school locations with a minimum amount of wait time. Crossing Guards are responsible for ensuring the safe crossing of children across busy roads and highways.
Essential Functions:
- Assess and maintain traffic patterns and control in assigned work location
- Direct movement of traffic through school entrances/exits using sign and hand signals
- Manage the placement, movement and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices
- Record license number of traffic control violators for police
- Be kind and courteous to the traveling public/pedestrians
- Be punctual and consistent in their scheduled duty times and attendance
- Possess flexibility to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a willingness to stand in an appropriate area of the roadway to effectively direct school peak time traffic situations. This will include directing either parental automobile vehicle traffic location for the drop-off/pick up of children, or the school bus entrance/exit location.
- Possess a commitment to attendance and punctuality.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, repetitively hold signs and/or flags, have the ability to use and raise arms to chest height in order to direct traffic.
- Must be physically able to move and place any signage in appropriate location.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Adhere to all regulatory, company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including wind, rain, cold, snow, heat, etc

Pay: $24.00 per hour
