CROSS SAFE is searching for safety focused part-time On Call Crossing Guard’s!

The safety of our children is of the utmost importance to Cross Safe, the community, and most importantly the parents. As a crossing guard for Cross Safe, you will be provided a truly unique and rewarding experience ensuring the safety of our children at crosswalks and intersections on all days school is in session.
Cross Safe is looking for committed crossing guards who want to give back to the community in Camp Hill, PA. Shifts are 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon on all days school is in session.
Crossing Guards are responsible for the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections by observing gaps in the traffic and leading the children safety across the roadway or intersection.
WHAT DOES A CROSSING GUARD ATTENDANT DO?
- Assist children on their way to and from school in safe manner while crossing roadways and intersections
- Watch for gaps in traffic and walk children across the roadway or intersection while holding a "stop" sign in such a manner as to be visible to approaching vehicles.
- Assess and maintain traffic patterns and control in assigned work location
- Direct movement of traffic at intersections using traffic signs and hand signals
- Manage the placement, movement and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices
- Record license number of traffic control violators for police
- Be kind and courteous to the traveling public/pedestrians
- Be punctual and consistent in their scheduled duty times and attendance
- Possess flexibility to perform other duties as assigned

This is a position where you are paid for your time on-call even if you are not required to report.
Essential Functions:
- Assess and maintain traffic patterns and control in assigned work location

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a willingness to stand in an appropriate area of the roadway to effectively direct school peak time traffic situations. This will include directing either parental automobile vehicle traffic location for the drop-off/pick up of children, or the school bus entrance/exit location.
- Possess a commitment to attendance and punctuality.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, repetitively hold signs and/or flags, have the ability to use and raise arms to chest height in order to direct traffic.
- Must be physically able to move and place any signage in appropriate location.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Adhere to all regulatory, company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including wind, rain, cold, snow, heat, etc
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.50 - $21.60 per hour
