Position Title: Store Manager
Location: Logan, UT
Key Responsibilities:
- Adopts and demonstrates at all times Parkland USA's philosophies and standards regarding store operations, image, and personnel management.
- Provide prompt and courteous service to all customers.
- Implements various programs, policies and promotions in support of organizational objectives.
- Recruiting, hiring and training of store employees. Posting internal job openings as needed. Interview for positions in accordance with standard, legal practices.
- Motivates, encourages and challenges all employees to ensure they deliver excellent customer service. Supervises direct reports, providing training, disciplinary actions performance feedback, and discharge/suspension recommendations following Company policies and statutory requirements and using sound workforce management practices.
- Recruits, interviews, instructs, and recommends job applicants for hire. Manages weekly work schedule and ensures stores is adequately staff at all times.
- Resolves customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Develops, implements and enforces daily operating procedures to ensure store is clean adequately stocked and organized.
- Verifies all merchandise is stocked and displays are appealing, priced correctly and displayed in a safe manner. Maintains quality brand image standards and pass evaluations. Ensures inventory levels in coolers, drink boxes, store shelves and display units are maintained and kept “fronted” at all times.
- Properly cleans and maintains equipment and ready high-margin products such as coffee, fountain drinks etc.
- Checks refrigeration equipment for proper performance a minimum of one time per shift.
- Monitors daily retail gasoline competitors and send prices to the corporate office daily.
- Completes daily paperwork and computer entry by COB (5pm daily).Understand all information in the daily reporting. Monitor cash over/short, inventory shrinkage and gas pump drive offs daily. Track and report data to corporate office daily. Prepare shift-change report at the completion of shifts in accordance with Parkland USA’s policies and procedures.
- Controls and monitors store expenses. Completes all assigned paperwork (New Hire Accounting, etc.).
- Manages the security and proper handling of all store funds, inventory and assets.
- Maintains all records and documents as required for store operation, compliance and supervision of workforce.
- Analyzes sales, checks deliveries, performs self-audits and works with vendors to ensure compliance of contracts.
- Has the capability to perform all duties of a Sales Associate, Supervisor and Assistant Manager. Fill in as needed, be available for on call. Assure proper sale and accounting for beer/liquor.
- Follows and enforces all Parkland USA’s policies and established procedures. Implement and enforce all merchandising and vendor policies and procedures.
- Ensure bank deposit is locked in the safe at all times and while going to the bank with the deposit, manager is expected to go straight to the bank and back to the store with any cash or coin. Keep safe and personnel files locked up and keep store computers secure from any unauthorized users.
- Implements monthly promotions, ensure all POS advertising/signage is accurately posted at the proper time.
- Communicates and performs all price change requests, mark downs/ups as requested.
- Communicates any issues with merchandise pricing to the Pricing Analyst.
- Conducts monthly safety and security meetings and document the meetings.
- Communicates and enforces all safety and security issues. Immediately reports and processes all employee and/or customer incidents or unsafe acts in accordance with Parkland USA’s policy and procedure. Ensures all established security measures are in effect. Reviews security videos and conducts prescribed loss prevention activities.
- Employee is expected to set priorities and meet deadlines. Employee is responsible for planning and carrying out assignments, resolving conflicts that arise, informing and coordinating with others as expected. Employee is accountable for insuring the technical accuracy of their work and maintaining good working relations, both internal and external to Parkland USA.
- Self-direction and motivation are also expected.
- Employee must demonstrate safe work and risk management practices.
- Must meet all performance expectations and complete all duties as assigned.
- Conduct spot-checks of facility on occasion.
- Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required approximately-10%.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 1 year previous managerial experience in a convenience store, restaurant or retail environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and be available to respond to incidents and emergencies
- Ability to work in varying outdoor climates and in-store cooler environments
- Ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work unaccompanied, standing, and without defined break periods. Occasionally working extended shifts of 12 hours or more, as required
- Must have reliable transportation
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and team building skills
- Proficient PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or similar)
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service
- Previous cash handling and customer service experience
