What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist position at Parks Veterinary?
We are looking for a Receptionist to join our team managing the phones and front desk on a daily basis. As a Receptionist, you are the first point of contact for our company. You will welcome clients and greet the four-legged patients who visit the business. You will coordinate front-desk activities, gather information for the medical staff, and communicate with other team members to make sure the visit meets expectations. To be successful as a Receptionist, you should have a pleasant personality and genuinely enjoy interacting with many people each day in person and on the phone. You should be able to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner, while streamlining office operations. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position as it can become busy.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office and get them checked in for their appointment
- Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
- Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
- Schedule appointments and reservations
- Enter and access information in our medical records system and lodging reservation system
- Collect payment following a visit
- Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable
- The ability to work four 9-hour work days Monday - Friday, as well as an alternating Saturday shift, is required.
Skills
- Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative or similar customer interaction role
- An ability to learn our practice management software system and some proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks

- An interest in learning, particularly about animal wellness care
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
