JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Director of Hospice President/CEO All Hospice Staff As a Director of Hospice you will be responsible for the overall direction of all hospice clinical services and report directly to the President/CEO. The Director of Hospice establishes, implements and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote exceptional quality of care. This position supervises the Hospice Community Nurse, Community LPN, Social Workers, Chaplains, Volunteer Coordinator, Nurse Practitioners, Community On-Call Nurse, Home Health Aides, Hospice Lead.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by the hospice clinical team and ensures that patients’ plans of care are developed, implemented and evaluated.

2. Provides guidance and counseling to the hospice team to assist them in continually improving all aspects of hospice care services.

3. Provides help in assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of patient and family/caregiver care to all clinical personnel as indicated.

4. Works with the Administrator and the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation and administration of the Agency’s budget in identifying budgetary requirements and determining appropriate use of allocations.

5. Works with Human Resources and in coordination is responsible for recruiting, hiring, evaluating and terminating service personnel.

6. Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume that could impact staffing levels, revenues or expenses.

7. Oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of program activities.

8. Assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with CMS, Joint Commisson, local, state and federal laws.

9. Responsible for the maintenance of adequate and appropriate inventory supplies and equipment for the provision of patient services.

10. In coordination with the Clinical Educator, plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet education and training needs of Agency personnel.

11. Assists with the evaluation of Agency performance via performance improvement program, productivity, quarterly and annual reviews. Assures for the quality and safe delivery of hospice services provided by the Agency.

12. Assists in the development of Agency goals. Develops, recommends and administers Agency policies and procedures and ensures compliance with federal, state and local rules, accreditation standards and hospice policies in all patient care aspects of hospice.

13. Assures compliance with all local state and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of Agency staff.

14. Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and hospice care; shares information with appropriate organization personnel.

15. Plans and arranges for consultation needs of staff; prepares and maintains current policies and procedures which meet Medicare, Medicaid, accreditation standards, state and federal laws, etc. and implements; revises concurrently.

16. Assures physician approval of plans for continuity of medical care.

17. Investigates and reports any problem relating to patient care or conditions which might harm the patient and/or employee well-being. Immediately reports any accident, incident, lost articles or unusual occurrence to the Administrator.

18. In coordination with the Vice President of Operational Excellence oversees Hospice's ongoing Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.

19. With the Hospice Lead coordinates the Interdisciplinary Team Meeting.

20. Other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Registered nurse in the State of Ohio with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State.

2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program by the National League for Nursing. Master's degree in hospice preferred.

3. Three years of management experience in a hospice or related health care organization.

4. Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel

5. Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.

6. Possess excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills.

7. Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations.

8. Must have a current valid Ohio driver’s license, auto liability insurance and reliable, insured transportation.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
