Job Overview:
The Sr Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will lead existing and new Amscan customers throughout the United States across various customer types with a primary focus on grocery channel customers. The RSM will be working with a CPG broker network to drive the new Amscan business model. The RSM is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong customer relationships to grow their business. The RSM oversees the day-to-day activities of various customer programs and addresses customer inquiries, resolving issues in a timely manner. They deliver excellent service by possessing a solid understanding of their customer’s business and serving as a liaison internally to ensure that the needs of their customers are being met.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversee day to day management of existing and new Amscan customers while supporting and developing strategic customer relationships
- Prospect and open new accounts for the division to deliver against key company and customer sales objectives
- Meet with new and existing customers and attend industry trade shows when required
- Coordinate and execute channel-based MAPS objectives (Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing, & Shelving) by utilizing Amscan’s Trade Marketing, Category Management, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Sourcing capabilities
- Provide expert consultative advice to clients by leveraging syndicated category and customer data, consumer insights, party industry expertise, in-depth product knowledge, and a solution driven approach to establish Amscan as the desired category leader
- Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge in the consumer-packaged goods industry, General Merchandise departments, an ability to marry them with the Party Goods Industry, as well as capitalizing on seasonal the Halloween Costume and Accessory industry
- Leverage a strong history of broker management to effectively develop and lead a network of brokers managers to drive Amscan sales initiatives
- Represent the Company professionally while aligning customer needs and category strategy with products and services offered by Amscan
Skills Required:
- Excellent selling, negotiation, and strong presentation development skills
- Ability to communicate effectively to influence decision makers and key stakeholders
- Thorough understanding of competitions’ strengths and weaknesses in all categories
- Deep understanding of margin & mix management, ROI analysis, supply chain, and other factors related to customer success
- Dedication to customer service including but not limited to follow-up on inquiries regarding products and order issues
- Ability to obtain essential information to best support customer needs
- Identify and focus on the key objectives of both Company and Customer coupled with a passion for goal achievement
- Problem identification and resolution with a “customer first” approach
- Agility and flexibility to adapt in fast-paced and rapidly changing market
- Demonstrated ability to utilize sales data and insight to craft effective selling stories
- Broker Management: Directly/managed third party suppliers
- Key CPG account sales: developing/negotiating annual joint business plans
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a matrixed organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- 10 years’ progressive experience in a sales role
- Prefer consumer packaged goods in grocery industry
- Prefer experience selling in general merchandise departments
- Proven results delivering customer solutions and consistently meeting or exceeding sales objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiating skills
- Strong working knowledge of excel, power point, outlook
- Deep understanding of syndicated data sources (Nielsen, IRI, SPINS)
