JOB TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
SUMMARY
Responsible for applying business knowledge and Human Resource expertise. Maintains a key role in the success of Pasadena Humane by providing a wide range of Human Resources support and services.
Advance Pasadena Humane’s organizational culture so that it supports the attainment of the company’s strategic goals, promotes core values and positive employee engagement.
Responsible for organizing and safeguarding confidential information, displaying the utmost level of discretion and ethical standards.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Serve as a resource to all employees on HR-related questions and concerns.
- Manage Pasadena Humane’s workers’ compensation program. Provide instruction to supervisors on the WC process and keep them updated throughout the claim.
- Administer Pasadena Humane’s SAFETY FIRST program and lead the Safety First Committee. Lead and coordinate Pasadena Humane’s safety drills.
- Administer Pasadena Humane’s benefit program. Conduct benefit orientations, coordinate Wellness Fairs, conduct annual benefits survey, analyze, and summarize results and make recommendations.
- Administer Pasadena Humane’s Leave of Absence programs in accordance with state and federal laws; coordinate communication relating to leave requests, approvals, and return to work; maintains leave records. Develop documentation, meet with employees, coordinate with managers, payroll, and the EDD.
- Provide leadership in the development and delivery and advancement of Pasadena Humane's DEI program and initiatives. Lead DEI committee, support DEI education and training. Develop staff leadership opportunities through committee activities.
- Collaborate with hiring managers on recruitment needs. Manage Pasadena Humane’s screening process for staff and volunteers. Train hiring managers on Pasadena Humane's mission and values oriented screening process.
- Responsible for Pasadena Humane’s onboarding experience Collects and verifies training, certification, licenses, depending on the role.
- Partner with the Sr. Director of Human Resources and department leadership on training needs, source, develop and deliver training as required. Responsible for Training Administration of safety and statutory training. Coordinate employee performance review program including the training, program delivery and follow through.
- Support a positive employee relations environment by promoting open communication and proactively addressing concerns.
- Responsible for the administration of staff recognition initiatives.
- Represents the Human Resources department and provides leadership to the ONE PHS committee to help promote a shared identity and understanding within Pasadena Humane of who we are, what we do and why we do it. Develop staff leadership opportunities through committee activities.
- Responsible for updating, distribution and posting of required HR posters including but not limited to wage orders, wage posters, state pamphlets.
- Upholds Pasadena Humane Society’s mission and contributes to building a culture of philanthropy.
- Ensures a harassment free workplace by following best practices.
- Participates as needed in special department projects.
- Works as a team member with other departmental managers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resources. HR Certification and/or OSHA 30 Certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of labor laws and regulations, including wage and hour requirements, leave laws, and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with employee relations, performance management, and benefits administration, hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation is preferred.
- High level of proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft office applications.
- Ability to demonstrate professional decorum and discretion due to the nature of the work.
- Strong sense of professional judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
