We are seeking a part-time Welding Generalist who will assist the Industry and Trades Coordinator with the development and operation of the Technical Studies program. 

This is a part-time hourly position. 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • Prep, weld, and visually inspect welds on all materials and processes. 
  • Weld all forms of steel, including mild, stainless, 2.5%-9% chrome, aluminum, and Inconel on pipe and plate. 
  • Maintain all equipment in the welding shop.  
  • Assist in the administrative functions of the welding shop.  
  • Facilitate workshop sessions as needed.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND: 

  • Current certification from a governing body such as American Welding Society (AWS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and/or Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), etc. 
  • Candidate must possess a vast knowledge of welding theory, welding code requirements, and certification mandates. 
  • Technical background in boiler making/tube welding, pipe welding, plan reading, pipe fitting, and structural welding. 
  • Ability to work with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds in various learning settings
