Position Summary
The Communications Manager is responsible for coordinating public relations and marking initiatives for PAWS® and executing a comprehensive multi-platform social media outreach program. This role will work with the Advancement Director to build PAWS’ identity and reputation locally and regionally through consistent brand, communications, and PR efforts to identify, cultivate, and engage prospective donors, volunteers, and community partners.
Essential Responsibilities
- Adhere to and emulate PAWS’ Core Values in all that you do; must conduct yourself as an ambassador of PAWS displaying a proper cultural fit within the organization
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a multi-platform comprehensive marketing, communications & PR strategy to enhance the PAWS image and to advance the mission through activities, publications, and media relations
- Maintain and cultivate relationships with target media and strategic organizational partnerships to expand awareness of PAWS and increase charitable giving
- Respond to media requests as the primary PAWS representative
- Execute all aspects of the public relations program including press releases, media presentations, email marketing, social media, and strategic marketing events
- Engage all constituencies by coordinating the social media strategy, creating content, and overseeing scheduling for all social media platforms
- Manage the PAWS website and website consultant
- Stay abreast of current and evolving trends in public relations, marketing, and social media
- Evaluate the public relations and social media programs and strategies, identifying opportunities for process improvement
- Manage the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), United Way and other workplace giving campaigns, including required administration and coordinating presentations
- Develop and manage an annual calendar of strategic presentations and facility tours, including identifying and securing presentation opportunities with strategic partners, group tours and presentations of PAWS’ facilities
- Other duties as assigned
Non-Essential Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Programs departments to recruit new employees and volunteers
- Support team members with events, mailings, and other ad hoc requests

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Advanced supervision: Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for direct reports; ensuring quality and quantity of work. Holds decision making authority for employee life-cycle activities including hiring, training, promotions, compensation, performance management, coaching and terminations.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 or more years of experience in public relations and/or marketing
- 1 or more years of experience in social media management
- Experience with TV and radio interviews (preferred)

- Mastery of major social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a self-starter.
- Must be a highly energetic professional with a proven track record of working with diverse audiences and building donor relationships.
- Demonstrate strong planning skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Ability and willingness to work assigned office hours, as well as weeknight or weekend activities to implement and support PAWS events.
