What are the responsibilities and job description for the SCHOOL REGISTRATION NURSE (PART-TIME) position at Pawtucket School Department?
The School Registration Nurse will be responsible for reviewing medical records of new students registering with the Pawtucket School Department. This position will work collaboratively with the Registration Manager and will report directly to the Assistant Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
●Responsible for reviewing and researching if needed the medical records required for student registration
●Responsible for contacting parents/guardians if needed to obtain additional medical records
●Responsible for uploading and downloading medical records into the Student Information System
●Adheres to all policies and procedures of the RI Department of Health Rules and Regulations for School Health Programs and the Pawtucket School Department Policies and Medical Orders.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
●RI Department of Health Rules and Regulations of School Health Programs
●RI Nurse Practice Act regulations relative to accountability and legal parameters of nursing practice
●Knowledge of the organizational structure of school systems.
●Strong communication and interpersonal skills; communicates effectively both verbally and in writing
●Solid knowledge of FERPA and HIPPA regulations
●Proven experience in data keeping and analysis techniques
●Knowledge of Student Information System (SIS) with ability to download and upload documents into SIS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
●A valid license to practice as a registered nurse, issued by the Department of Health
●Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
●Proficiency in working with computers; working knowledge of Google Docs and Google sheets and/or Microsoft products
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
●RI Certified School Nurse Teacher Certificate for Pre-K through Grade 12
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
●Frequently required to stand, sit and walk
●Occasional lifting or carrying weighing up to 25 pounds
●The working conditions (light, noise level, temperature, etc. are typical of (primarily) an office setting
●Specific physical abilities include close vision and the ability to use computer monitors for long periods of time, as well as the ability to communicate verbally in person and on the telephone.
