SUPERVISOR: Senior Manager, Social Engagement Creative
The Manager, Multiplatform Creative, helps develop and manage the ongoing production of content creative for PBS digital and social media channels. The role supports engagement initiatives and contributes to overall digital and social media content strategy for all PBS programs to drive exposure, tune-in, awareness and evangelism. The ideal candidate will serve as subject matter expert and collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, work closely with the Senior Manager of Social Engagement, as well as partner with PBS station and producer social media/digital teams and lead ongoing efforts to experiment and expand into new and emerging platforms.
The Manager, Multiplatform Creative, will assist the Senior Manager with managing creative strategy for all PBS social platforms, working with peers and cross functional teams on developing strategy, creative briefs, and distribution plans, with a creative approach to effective storytelling within each social platform. The candidate will also manage digital and social creative policies, specifications and best practices for PBS, our national producers and local member stations.
The Manager, Multiplatform Creative will also help design social assets, quick turnaround assets and templates, as well as edit social-first videos. The role will require the ability to design and strategize creative across a range of platforms, audiences and formats.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Work on creative strategy on the social media team, create and distribute assets, and ensure that creative meets editorial, brand, and platform requirements.
  • Proactively update the social media content playbook to ensure that PBS is distributing best-in-class creative assets that are optimized to each platform.
  • Collaborate with internal design units to manage creative plans for PBS campaigns, including social channel prioritization, social asset recommendations (images, video content, stop motion, etc.) and design best practices.
  • Design, produce and distribute supplemental and quick-turnaround assets, as needed.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to support and enhance PBS brand standards, policies, and best practices for digital and social platforms.
  • Manage social media guidelines, playbooks and best practice training materials to help educate internal and external stakeholders, partners and stations on best practices.
  • Lead internal creative ideation sessions for key digital and social priorities, such as the PBS Short Film Festival, heritage month celebrations, channel branding, social media end cards, etc.
  • Plan, monitor, strengthen, and maintain presences on PBS' key social media channels (e.g. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook); seek and lead new opportunities for PBS social media outposts and experimentation.
  • In conjunction with social media team, assist with and oversee on-site/event/in-production social media strategies and execution at major events, conferences, meetings, and other public activities.
  • In conjunction with social media team members, partner with teams throughout PBS to support major social media initiatives and engagement initiatives. This includes bolstering work supporting social media efforts and experimentation at local stations.
  • In conjunction with social media team, support station trainings for digital and social media via webinars and workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements for success:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, animation, communications, marketing, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of digital or social media marketing, design and/or communications experience.
  • Experience teaching or managing the creation of online content, publishing content for social media a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of a suite of graphic and video design tools, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects etc.
  • Experience and an ability to work closely with internal and external design groups.
  • Successful track record in developing content for social media accounts for high-profile organizations.
  • Experience with content ideation, strategy, and creative campaign development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-depth familiarity with digital and social media content best practices and algorithms, and ability to communicate them to various internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to remain creative, diplomatic, calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional department, and to foster communication and collaboration internally and externally.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and act proactively.
  • Strong workflow management skills.
  • Ability to execute assignments on deadline.
