We are seeking resumes for a Supervisor – Power (Pulp) (1 Opening) in our Wallula, WA facility.
Description of role:
Coordinates and leads pulp production shift activities for a 20 person crew.
Principle Accountabilities:
Oversees the entire pulp production operation from the woodyard to pulp inventory and steam production for paper machine operations.
Responsible for all phases of an 1500 TPD pulp production operation, including 2 recovery boilers, 3 sets of evaporators, 1 concentrator unit, 3 power boilers, steam plant, demineralizer plant, 1 re-causticizing line, Kamyr digester, 2 M&D digesters, NSSC digester, 2 washer lines, and chip handling.
Leadership duties include crew training, crew safety performance and safety meetings, environmental compliance, production efficiency, product quality, department housekeeping, crew staffing, process downtime, payroll administration, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Manages pulp and liquor inventories, and all quality and key process indicators for the process.
Coordinates maintenance and operational activities with area supervisors and maintenance staff, and interfaces with shift maintenance and paper machine supervisor to resolve daily issues.
This position will require shift work and will also fill in as Asst. Supt.
Responsible for crew meetings and communicating effectively to crew members, peers, and the day shift management team, ensuring and reinforcing that safety is a number one priority.
Lead troubleshooting of equipment operation problems by ensuring that crews are trained to operate machine(s) in safe and effective manner.
Assist in identifying productivity, quality and efficiency bottlenecks.
Ability to work with other supervisors effectively and maintain a successful continuous operation.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or bio-resource (pulp & paper) science engineering or 3 years in a similar leadership role.
Supervisory management with experience in hiring, coaching, performance development, and corrective action.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Pulp/Power Production or related operations.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or bio-resource (pulp & paper) science engineering.

Pay and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is from $92,800 to $139,200.
Employees (and their dependents) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, basic life, and disability insurance coverage, subject to applicable waiting periods. Employees are automatically enrolled in PCA’s 401k retirement plan at the time of hire. Employees are also eligible for up to 120 hours of vacation (prorated) and eleven (11) paid holidays per calendar year.
