What are the responsibilities and job description for the NDT Level I (X-ray) position at PCC STRUCTURALS?

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision, inspects castings by the evaluation of X-Ray exposed films developed to ensure conformance to customer requirements using established inspection methods following established safety and operating procedures approved by Quality Assurance. Ensures that documentation, tooling and parts are correctly matched to paperwork.

OBJECTIVE:

Certifies castings, patterns and other articles conform to production guidelines and customer requirements by performing X-Ray inspection functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work.

· Demonstrate ability to log on main computer system, extract information, log time, enter inventory amount and forward to next operation.

· Works under general supervision performing X-Ray inspection functions on castings, wax patterns and other articles following established x-ray inspection methods.

· Develops and obtains management and Quality Assurance approval for X-Ray "shooting" sketches and techniques used by other X-Ray personnel.

· Interprets film and certifies conformance of castings to customer requirements.

· Helps schedule work in X-Ray inspection area and direct work flow.

· Troubleshoots equipment problems and malfunctions and maintains effective maintenance programs for all equipment, operates all equipment as required.

· Interfaces with engineering and management and proposes corrective action to solve problems.

· Completes all necessary records and develops logs and other records to assure compliance to specifications. Demonstrate proper procedures for signing off travelers, filling out department slips, labor vouchers, and any other department documents.

· Reports discrepancies to management/supervisor as required based on experience.

· Sets up, shoots and develops films.

· Performs daily, weekly, and monthly calibrations to equipment and interprets x-rays.

· Starts up all equipment used and shoots daily x-ray calibration shot to ensure proper density and control standards.

· Maintains and checks temperature and pressure gauges.

· Mixes and maintains developer and fixer solution.

· Sets up castings as described on technique sheet.

· Attends classroom training as required.

· Operates x-ray machine, developer, and densitometer after qualification and training.

· Understand SPC and published X-Ray sampling methods.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

· Training is provided on the job and will be documented by Verbal, Written, or Practical Testing.

· Completion of the X-Ray Safety Training Course, including test is required.

· OSHA Training format on Lead (letters, cabinet lining, etc.) is required.

· OSHA Training format on Confined spaces.

· Experience and/or training are included in considerations.

· Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, read, follows and interprets instructions on technique cards, code sheets as well as other verbal or written instructions.

· Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

· Ability to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.

· Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

All customer and staff are required to wear a mask and common surfaces are sanitized regularly. Masks and hand sanitizer is provided throughout the worksite.
