What are the responsibilities and job description for the Microbiologist position at Peak Performers?
We are searching for a skilled and meticulous Microbiologist to join our team to work on a contract with a Texas State Agency. As a Microbiologist, you will conduct and supervise laboratory experiments using but not limited to, microbiological, clinical chemistry, and environmental specimens/samples. Your work will help ensure the safety of Texas Newborns!
Who you will be working with
Working with a Texas agency Newborn Screening (NBS) Specimen Receiving Group.
Major duties
- Receives, processes, and assigns lab numbers to specimens/samples for testing
- Assists in training and mentoring employees, providing feedback on progress
- Handles special tasks, performs quality control steps, and uses LIMS for data entry
- Reports issues to Team Lead/Manager and assists in investigations
- Provides customer service and resolves logistical/technical problems
- Performs physical tasks, including package handling and state vehicle operation
- Supports disaster response and recovery efforts as needed
What are we looking for?
- Ability to work a Minimum of 3 Saturdays a month (will get to leave early during the week)
- Previous lab experience
About this position
- Rate: $20.50 per hour
- Length of engagement: ASAP- Aug. 31st with high chance of extensions
- Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
