Property Accountant
Location: Uptown Neighborhood, Chicago
About Us:
Our client is seeking a great property accountant to join their team in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. They are a small but growing real estate owner, investor and manager of market rate multi-family properties.
Responsibilities:
Property Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate records for our properties in Appfolio, including handling accounting for about 20 properties and reviewing payables.
Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly reporting packages and update the Statement of Operations. Assist with quarterly investor reports and variance analysis.
Leasing Support: Reconcile leasing-related accounts and assist with leasing reconciliation tasks.
Vendor Management: Manage utility, insurance, and vendor accounts. Circulate insurance certificates to necessary parties.
Budget Assistance: Assist in developing annual property budgets.
Financial Audits: Provide necessary reporting to auditors on a periodic basis.
Transaction Support: Provide due diligence information for property acquisitions and dispositions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the real estate industry.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Quickbooks and Appfolio is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
