ThePharma Sales Account Manager serves as the business development liaison for CRO’s and Sponsors in the pharmaceutical market. Pearson Clinical Assessments are widely used in Central Nervous System (CNS) trials and are expanding into additional therapeutic areas. The Account Manager will be responsible for developing and nurturing client relationships, driving new content licensing opportunities, and supporting customers at multiple points in their journey with Pearson Clinical Assessment. The Account Manager will collaborate across Pearson departments to ensure timely delivery of licensed and translated content, accurately manage the sales pipeline through Salesforce, and provide consultation and recommendations relevant to the measurement of a drug trial or medical device study. The Account Manager is expected to upsell and cross-sell Pearson’s training and consultation services.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in driving business results, be detail-oriented, have knowledge and/or certification in the use of Pearson’s assessments and/or other psychometric tests. The incumbent has experience in licensing of Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs), global clinical trial workflow, and proven skills in managing customer needs and expectations. Systematic and attentive planning and follow-up are key elements of this position. The incumbent will understand the dynamics of an emerging business and is energized by change, rapid growth, and building something from the ground up.

The Account Manager independently manages a designated sector of pharma licensing customers. Key measures of success are performance against an established annual target, new business development, and maintaining high standards for the customer experience.

Primary Responsibilities/Scope of Work

  • Develop and manage pharma COA licensing deals from initial identification of needs to the close of the project.
  • Pearson is a performance driven organization. The successful candidate will be self-directed and focused on the attainment of annual revenue goals.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships and foster the growth of new partners.
  • Demonstrate consistent and effective pipeline management.
  • Produce accurate and timely forecasts as required by management.
  • Follow-up on sales leads from all channels
  • Collaborate with the Contracts & Licensing and Translation Support teams to deliver materials on time.
  • Develop key account strategies that include lead generation, business development, and retention.
  • Establish contacts within assigned therapeutic groups of major pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, Clinical Research Organizations (CRO’s), and rater services companies.

  • Meet and/or Exceed Assigned Quotas

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Preferred 5-7 years of experience in Clinical Outcome Assessments (COA) licensing in clinical trials, foundational knowledge of scales used in clinical trials, and experience working with a variety of Sponsors and/or CRO’s.
  • Experience in business development and key account/customer management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to set and communicate expectations; skill in managing tight deadlines and high stakes situations.
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of change.
  • Experience in selling intangibles – selling solutions vs. products.
  • Results-oriented professional with strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated success working independently, working from home.

Travel

  • The position requires a willingness to travel up to 15% of the time for customer meetings and conferences, contingent upon environmental and societal impacts.
  • The position also requires that the individual be comfortable in a relatively independent working environment, with primary contact with team members being virtual.

Reporting structure

  • This position reports directly to the Director of Pharma Sales
  • Colorado-based and Remote Roles, AIP eligible: As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $75,000.00.
