Purpose Summary
The Senior Director, PVS Career Solutions is a senior level role within the Pearson Virtual School business. Reporting to the SVP of Partnerships & Customer Success, the XXX is responsible for leading the development of the PVS Career Solution, managing a small team to support partnership development and analysis, and helping deliver the PVS Career Solution to PVS school and district partners. The XXX will need to ensure alignment across the organization to help develop and strengthen the Career solution while creating a strong customer centric Career experience that benefits schools, students, and families.
As PVS grows its career presence in the K-12 virtual market through the development of the Career Solution, this position will need to partner with various leaders across the PVS organization (Product & Technology, Partnerships & Customer Success, Marketing, Services, Finance, etc.) to ensure strategic alignment and execution of the Career Solution, while helping envision and validate the Career Solution GTM that can add customer value and support the sales/adoption of the PVS Career Solution.
This position will work across the Pearson organization to partner with other verticals to develop a strong customer experience for the Career Solution; minimizing unnecessary development of solutions and partnerships; and working through Pearson partners to help support the creation of a lifelong career learning experience. An expert in K-12 Career Solutions, this position will be responsible for researching industry trends and building PVS knowledge and understanding in the Career Solutions marketplace. This senior leader is responsible for helping support financially sustainable, incremental revenue growth across the PVS customer portfolio via the PVS Career Solution; ensuring future development and enablement is delivered in support of financial targets and budgets.
This role will also be responsible for the strategy, planning, and team management of the PVS Business Development team, which is responsible for identifying, targeting and signing new PVS Career Solution partners to expand the breadth and attractiveness of the Career Solution; identifying additional business development opportunities that can expand the PVS offer in the K-12 space; and supporting new ideas and solutions that enables the scaling of new innovative products and services.
Core Tasks and Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee PVS business development team and strategy; to identify, develop and execute various opportunities in the marketplace.
- Work with Product & Technology, Finance, Services, and Operations leaders to develop multi-year growth and profit plans for the Career Solution
- Effectively build and manage relationships with multiple Career Solution partners, acting as a senior leader for PVS and as a trusted, strategic advisor for the organization.
- Deliver on our shared growth and strategic objectives with our Career Solution partners and build new business opportunities across universities, corporations, and government agencies
- Partner with peers across our matrixed organization to create consistent practices and approaches to drive results.
- Ensure a world-class, winning team is in place who are effective in strategic account management and business development
- Foster a success-oriented, customer service-focused, accountable environment, and provide day-to-day leadership that mirrors the strategy, mission and core values of Pearson.
- Develop relationships across broader Pearson to ensure we bring to bear the products and capabilities of our global organization for the benefit of our partnerships
- Identify innovations important to our partners, and work with peers to identify new operational infrastructure (systems, processes, and/or personnel) required to deliver on these innovations
- In partnership with Finance develop pro formas, P&L models and forecasting for new partner and program opportunities.
- Measure performance of Career Solution P&Ls within portfolio and establish targets for improvement
- Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures
Required Skills, Experience, and Competencies
- 7 years with a combination of business development, external clients/partner management and leading large-scale internal operations, preferably in K-12
- Demonstrated success at developing and implementing integrated strategies, partnerships, and programs which deliver results in alignment with overall business objectives.
- An exceptional relationship builder/influencer with a proven track record of effectively managing a diverse stakeholder group in a complex enterprise and executing strategies to deliver superior results in both the short and long term.
- Strong executive presence, adept at interaction with a diverse group of internal clients along with senior executives across various types of corporate/university/government partners
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through influencing others. Proven success in a matrix management environment.
- Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change.
- Excellent judgement and leadership skills with high integrity
- Well-developed commercial and business acumen
- Strong strategic consulting skills and experience
- Excellent communication skills for effective contact and presentation with executive stakeholders with partners and across Pearson
- Strong analytical skills, with a track record of developing actionable recommendations from quantitative data
- Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferable.
- Hands on leader with a high degree of personal accountability and integrity
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience developing and structuring agreements to support objectives
- Results-oriented professional with strong work ethic. Demonstrated success working independently, working on many activities concurrently.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable of minimum compensation for roles that maybe hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factor including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the State of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $160,000-$180,000.
